I was contacted unexpectedly — by a call, SMS, WhatsApp/Telegram, social media or a dating app — by someone I did not know. I was promised guaranteed profits, a prize, a refund, or returns that sound too good to be true. I was pressured to act urgently, or told to keep it secret from my family or my bank. I was asked to pay a fee, "tax", or deposit before I could receive money, a loan, a job, or winnings. I was told to move my money to a "safe account" for protection or for an investigation. I was asked to pay by personal bank transfer, cryptocurrency, or gift cards — not a normal store checkout. I was asked for my password, OTP/TAC code, full card number, or to install an app or allow remote access to my device. The person avoided meeting in person or a live video call, or I could not verify who they really are. I have ALREADY sent money, or shared my banking login / OTP / card details with them.
